Teenage Cancer Trust concert and other news

Hi Everyone.

It's been hectic already this year.

Thanks to the Billy Nicholls Yahoo Group (see Links); who keep us up to speed on any 'Would You Believe Album' news. 'A copy in near-mint state sold for US$9,700 on eBay on March 7.' Amazing!

10 years ago, Roger persuaded 'The Who and Friends' to perform a show at the Royal Albert Hall in aid of of Teenage Cancer Trust; I felt privileged to be involved. Since then these annual shows have raised millions of pounds for this unique charity.

This year was no exception: 9 nights of music and mirth, ended with a spectacular performance of The Who's Quadrophenia. Usual big sound plus big screen.

The story narrated visually by Alex Langdon, with old news footage from the mid sixties (1996/7 Quadrophenia Tour), and black and white close ups of the band. Pete and Roger and their core band members: Simon Townshend, John 'Rabbit' Bundrick, Zac Starkey and Pino Palladino were backed up on stage by a 5 piece brass section: Simon Gardner, Neil Sidwell, Paul Spong, Andy Greenwood and Adrian Hallowell, plus Tom Norris on Violin and Anna Menzies on Cello. Elliot Ware added extra keyboard sounds. He worked on a Musical version of Quadrophenia which did a mini UK tour Summer 2009. It was great to work with good friends; Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam as The Godfather and Tom Meighan of Kasabian staged a perfect Ace Face/Bell Boy.

As Musical Director, Backing Vocalist and Percussionist (or 'Gong Man' thanks to Minta!), I think I can speak for everyone that a great night was had by all.... and again it was a privilege to be asked to help.

Following the success of an 'After the Show' corporate gig in the Elgar Room as part of the 2008 TCT Concerts at RAH; Roger Daltrey and friends performed a short set including 'Without Your Love' to a packed room. Accompanying Roger on the 23rd March this year, were Simon Townshend, John 'Rabbit' Bundrick, Danny Thompson, Tom Norris, Andy Cutting and Jody Lindscott. Another very successful evening event, where we raised an extra £100,000 for the TCT Charity.

Back on the home front, I've been working on new songs; mostly co-written with my brother Mike. A Major Studio in Shepherds Bush is booked to record a new album later this month. We hope Morgan will be involved in this project, between touring with successful band 'Muse' and writing his own material. I'll also have a look at all my recorded songs/demos that haven't yet been released and probably put as many as possible on a 'Snapshot 2' Album.

We've finally gone into Digital Distribution by joining CD Baby; both 'Rosslyn Road' & 'Still Entwined' are now available as downloads, and listen out for Amy's band: Ladybear and their new Album 'Catch 22'. also available as a download. They're all available in the Shop so please have a look.

Best Wishes

Billy.
